Industries

Different industries, recurring requirements

From medical technology to plant engineering, many fundamental requirements for a PLM system are similar. What differs is their emphasis, for example in compliance obligations, product variety or product lifetime.

What industries have in common

These similarities help us understand your requirements faster and develop suitable solutions. We already know many product structures, compliance obligations and process patterns from comparable projects.

  • Complex system landscapes
  • Data migration and data quality
  • Fragmented product data
  • Compliance evidence for customers and authorities
  • Connection of CAD, ERP and adjacent systems
  • Variant and configuration management
  • Change and release control
  • Operation over long periods

Medical and laboratory technology

Even years later, it must be possible to prove the state in which a product was placed on the market. Requirements, risks, design states and changes must therefore be seamlessly linked. When systems change, this history is fully preserved.

02

Packaging and food technology

Machine builders for the food industry manage many formats and variants on a single machine platform and must prove that components in contact with food are made of compliant materials. Packaging manufacturers maintain tooling data, specifications and print templates in many variants.

03

Machinery and plant engineering

Modular systems and product series give rise to order-specific BOMs, either as configured variants or as custom designs. After delivery, what counts is the as-built and as-maintained status of every machine and plant. We derive it from the engineering BOM as a basis for spare parts, service and retrofits and as a starting point for a Digital Twin.

04

Automotive and commercial vehicles

Modular strategies and variants must remain manageable across the entire vehicle lifecycle. Changes are coordinated between manufacturer and supplier, and evidence is maintained along the supply chain, for example on material data. Commercial vehicles add customer-specific bodies, low volumes and long service lives.

05

Energy and building technology

Energy and plant manufacturers need project-specific product data, consistent plant documentation and a clean handover to the operator. Building technology manufacturers need product data that planners can import directly into their BIM models. Both share operating lives of decades, over which spare parts structures must also be maintained.

06

Electrical engineering and electronics

Mechanics and electronics are converging in a single product. ECAD and MCAD data are managed in a common product structure and released together. In addition, there are component libraries with manufacturer and supplier parts and growing compliance obligations for materials.

07

Defense and security

Released configurations must remain traceable and reproducible for decades, even when components become obsolete or the PLM system itself changes. For security reasons, systems often run in air-gapped networks without internet access. Support and updates must then also work offline.

Other industries

Our experience goes beyond these core areas. We have also completed PLM projects in many other manufacturing industries.
